NHAI Revises FASTag Annual Pass Fee; Up 2.5% from April 1
March 14, 2026
New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has revised the fee for the FASTag Annual Pass for the financial year 2026–27. As per an order issued on March 12, owners of non-commercial vehicles will have to pay ₹3,075, up from the earlier ₹3,000, for the pass effective April 1, an increase of 2.5%.
The FASTag Annual Pass was introduced on August 15 last year to reduce toll expenses for frequent highway users and to make travel more convenient. The pass is available for non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans that have an active FASTag. It remains valid for one year or up to 200 crossings at any national highway fee plaza, regardless of the toll amount charged at individual plazas.
Users can purchase the annual pass through the Rajmargyatra mobile application or the NHAI website.
Over 50 lakh users using annual pass
According to data from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), more than 50 lakh national highway users are currently using the FASTag Annual Pass. The pass now accounts for nearly 28% of total car transactions on the national highway network.
Since the launch of FASTag in 2016, around 11.86 crore FASTags have been issued, of which nearly 5.9 crore are active. More than 98% of toll collection on national highways is carried out electronically through FASTag.
Toll plazas with highest usage
The highest usage of the annual pass has been recorded at Bijwasan Fee Plaza on the Delhi–Gurugram border, where about 57% of car crossings are made using the pass. This is followed by Mundka Toll Plaza on Urban Extension Road-II in Delhi and Jhinjholi Fee Plaza on the Sonipat–Bawana Highway, each with nearly 53% usage among non-commercial vehicles.
Region-wise, Chandigarh accounts for 14% of total annual pass transactions in the country, followed by Tamil Nadu (12.3%) and Delhi (11.5%). Since its launch in August 2025, the annual pass has recorded over 26.55 crore transactions up to January 2026.
Where the pass is valid
The FASTag Annual Pass is valid at around 1,150 fee plazas on National Highways and National Expressways. At toll plazas operated by state governments, local bodies, or on state highways and certain expressways, FASTag will function as a regular tag and the standard toll charges will apply.
Not mandatory for users
The annual pass is optional, and the existing FASTag system will continue for users who do not opt for it. After completing 200 trips or one year, the pass automatically reverts to a regular FASTag. Users can purchase a new annual pass after exhausting the trip limit, even if the one-year validity period has not ended. DeshGujarat
