PM Modi to Inaugurate/Lay Foundation of ₹19,800+ Crore Projects During Gujarat Visit

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his home state of Gujarat on Tuesday, i.e., March 31, during which he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth ₹19,806.9 crore at Vav-Tharad.
The projects include works worth ₹10,921 crore under ministries of the Government of India—Power, Road Transport and Highways, and Railways—and ₹8,886 crore under various departments of the Government of Gujarat, including Urban Development, Water Resources, Roads and Housing, GIDC, Health, Tourism, and Tribal Development. The event will be attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other senior officials.
Major Central Government Projects
Among key highlights, the Prime Minister will inaugurate three major power projects worth ₹3,645 crore linked to the Khawda Renewable Energy Park in Kutch, aimed at strengthening green energy transmission and national grid connectivity.
He will also lay the foundation stone for road projects including the Ider–Badoli bypass (₹705 crore) and the Dholavira–Mauwana–Vova–Santalpur stretch (₹575 crore). Additionally, multiple packages of the Ahmedabad–Dholera project (₹1,298 crore, ₹1,415 crore, ₹1,034 crore, and ₹1,358 crore) will be inaugurated.
Railway projects worth ₹891 crore will also be launched, including the Himmatnagar–Khedbrahma broad gauge line, track upgrades in Gandhidham–Adipur, and Kanalus–Jamnagar doubling work as part of the Rajkot–Kanalus Doubling Project. The Khedbrahma–Himmatnagar–Asarwa train will also be flagged off.
Gujarat Government Projects
Under the state government, projects worth ₹8,886 crore will be inaugurated and launched, with the Urban Development Department accounting for the largest share at ₹5,295.5 crore.
Key urban projects include development of the Kharikat canal in Ahmedabad, modernisation of BRTS and AMTS bus services, construction of a new four-lane Subhash Bridge, housing for economically weaker sections (EWS), and development of sports complexes and auditoriums.
Other projects include the construction of residential houses for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in Gandhinagar, laying of a 1,800 mm sewer trunk through open excavation (length: 2,420 metres) and microtunnelling (length: 3,180 metres) from the National Highway to Adalaj TSPS for the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, construction of a 15 MLD sewage treatment plant at Pethapur, interlinking of four lakes at Rakheja, and laying of stormwater lines.
Apart from the Urban Development Department, various projects of the Water Resources, Water Supply, Roads and Housing, GIDC, Health and Family Welfare, Tourism, Tribal Development, and Rural Development departments of the Government of Gujarat will also be inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid.
In addition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hand over houses to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), covering 38,949 houses across 34 districts of Gujarat, helping fulfil the dream of home ownership for rural citizens.
