Rajkot: In a major robbery, gold worth ₹25 crore belonging to a Rajkot-based jeweller was looted in Bihar in what appears to be a well-planned, film-style operation.

According to available details, two employees of the city’s well-known K.V. & Sons firm—Mahesh Mamtora and Prince Ranpariya—had travelled to Bihar to deliver a consignment of gold ornaments. As they got down at a railway station, they were allegedly surrounded by around eight assailants who arrived on motorcycles and in a car.

The accused reportedly posed as officials of the Customs Department and, on the pretext of conducting an inquiry, forcibly took both employees into a car and abducted them.

Police said the victims were taken to a deserted location, where the accused looted gold worth ₹25 crore. The employees were later abandoned on the roadside before the assailants fled the scene.

The victims subsequently informed the firm owner and the local police. The incident has triggered concern and unrest among traders in Rajkot’s Soni Bazaar.

Bihar Police have launched an investigation and initiated search operations in multiple directions. The vehicle used in the crime has been traced and seized.

Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accused using CCTV footage and technical surveillance. A team from Rajkot Police is also likely to travel to Bihar to assist in the investigation. DeshGujarat
