Gujarat ATS nabs Punjab man in ISI-linked grenade smuggling case

Banaskantha: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Gujarat Police arrested a man wanted by Punjab Police in connection with a grenade smuggling case from a dhaba in Deesa.

The arrest was carried out jointly by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Banaskantha Special Operations Group (SOG) following specific intelligence inputs shared by the Punjab Police regarding the accused, Bikramjit Singh.

According to officials, Bikramjit Singh alias Vicky, a resident of Nangal Panual in Amritsar, was working as a labourer at a roadside dhaba in Deesa when he was apprehended.

Acting on the intelligence, teams from the Gujarat ATS and Banaskantha SOG tracked his movements and brought him to Ahmedabad for further interrogation.

During questioning, investigators found that Singh was allegedly associated with Shehzad Bhatti and Abid Jutt in supplying grenades and planning attacks on security establishments. Police said that while operating outside Punjab, he also recruited individuals into the organised crime network and was involved in conspiracies targeting police stations and other security units.

Officials further stated that Shehzad Bhatti, a Pakistan-based gangster with alleged links to the ISI, is believed to be involved in orchestrating grenade attacks on security forces, police stations, and high-profile individuals in Punjab.

A case has been registered by the SSOC Amritsar under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Explosive Substances Act, 1908, and the Arms Act, 1959. DeshGujarat
