Unseasonal rains likely to return in parts of Gujarat on April 7: IMD forecast

Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast largely dry weather across Gujarat over the next week, with a brief spell of rain and thunderstorms expected in isolated districts on April 7.

The IMD has predicted light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) at isolated places on April 7.

Affected districts in North and Central Gujarat include Banaskantha, Patan, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, and Chhota Udepur. In Saurashtra-Kutch, Jamnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, and Kutch are likely to witness similar conditions.

No warnings have been issued for the remaining days, with dry weather expected to prevail across the state before and after this brief spell.

Temperature Trends

Maximum temperatures are expected to remain stable over the next three days, followed by a gradual rise of 2–3°C across Gujarat.

Synoptic Situation

A western disturbance currently lies over central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab, influencing weather patterns over the region. Another fresh western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from April 7, which may trigger the brief spell of rain in parts of Gujarat.

Advisory Issued

The IMD has advised residents in affected districts to remain cautious during thunderstorm activity. Strong winds may lead to tree damage, disruption of power lines, and minor damage to kutcha structures. People are advised to stay indoors during storms, avoid sheltering under trees, and keep away from electrical conductors.

Outlook

No significant change in weather conditions is expected for the subsequent two days beyond April 12, indicating continued dry conditions across Gujarat. DeshGujarat
