April 10, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat on Thursday nabbed an individual while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 on behalf of a police constable.
The accused, Police Constable Laxmanbhai Gagjibhai Mori, is posted at Sola High Court Police Station, while his aide, Brijeshkumar Mansukhbhai Shrimali, is a resident of Indiranagar near Pisawada Primary School in Dholka taluka. While Shrimali was caught red-handed during the trap, Mori remains absconding.
According to the ACB, the complainant approached the agency after being asked to pay a bribe in connection with a financial fraud case registered against his brother and five others. The complainant’s brother had been arrested on December 17, 2025, and was later sent to Sabarmati Jail following court remand.
During subsequent interactions at the Sola police station, the accused constable allegedly assured the complainant that his brother would not be harassed further, that the charge sheet would be filed promptly, that no additional offences would be registered, and that bail would be facilitated. In return, Mori allegedly demanded ₹1.20 lakh, which was later negotiated down to ₹70,000.
As part of the deal, ₹20,000 was reportedly transferred online via PhonePe to Shrimali on behalf of Mori. The remaining ₹50,000 was to be paid in cash through Shrimali.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB, which laid a trap near Up Sarpanch Tea Stall at Sarkhej Circle on the Sarkhej–Sanand road. During the operation, Shrimali accepted the ₹50,000 bribe in the presence of independent witnesses and was immediately apprehended.
The ACB recovered the entire bribe amount of ₹50,000 from the spot. Further investigation is underway to establish the role of the absconding constable. DeshGujarat
