Centre designates three more Seaports in Gujarat as Immigration Checkposts

Gandhinagar: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has notified three more Gujarat seaports namely Dahej, Sikka and Tuna Tekra, as authorised immigration checkposts under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, further strengthening the state’s infrastructure for international passenger movement.

The notification, issued on May 29, 2026, amends the Centre’s earlier September 2025 order that had designated 37 seaports across the country as immigration entry and exit points. With the latest addition, the total number of notified seaports has increased to 40.

As per the gazette notification, Dahej in Bharuch district, Sikka in Jamnagar district and Tuna Tekra in Kutch have been included under Category-II (Seaports) of the approved immigration checkposts list. This will enable immigration clearance facilities for foreign nationals and international travellers at these ports.

The move builds on previous notifications by the MHA, which had designated multiple airports, seaports, land border crossings and railway stations as official immigration checkpoints under the new framework. In Gujarat, ports such as Alang, Bhavnagar, Mundra, Hazira and Pipavav were already part of the notified list.

The latest expansion is expected to enhance Gujarat’s maritime connectivity and facilitate smoother international movement through key commercial ports handling increasing volumes of global trade and passenger traffic. DeshGujarat
