Vadodara AAP Chief Booked in Another Case; Accused of Rape and Blackmailing Party Worker

Vadodara: Vadodara city Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) president Ashok Ojha has been arrested after a woman party functionary filed a rape and blackmail complaint against him and three members of his family. This is his second arrest within a week, following an earlier arrest for allegedly impersonating an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer and threatening a party worker.

According to the city police, the woman has accused Ojha of repeatedly sexually assaulting her, recording obscene videos without her consent, and threatening to make the videos public. The complaint also names Ojha’s son, wife, and daughter as co-accused. Police have launched a search for the three absconding accused.

Assistant Commissioner of Police G.D. Palsana said the complainant approached Kapurai Police Station after gaining confidence from a separate case recently registered against Ojha in Anand. Based on her complaint, police registered an FIR and arrested Ojha. Efforts are underway to trace the remaining accused, and police are expected to seek his custodial remand.

According to the FIR, Ojha allegedly lured the complainant to his residence on the pretext of helping her husband secure a job. The woman alleged that he made her consume alcohol and then sexually assaulted her. She further claimed that Ojha secretly recorded nude videos of her and subsequently used them to blackmail and repeatedly sexually exploit her between 2024 and March 2026.

The complainant alleged that Ojha took her to various locations, including hotels in Vadodara and outside Gujarat, and continued to assault her while threatening to release the videos. She also alleged that Ojha’s son raped her after threatening to circulate the videos.

The FIR further states that Ojha’s wife and daughter allegedly threatened and harassed the complainant and pressured her to maintain contact with Ojha. The woman has also accused the family of demanding money from her on multiple occasions.

Meanwhile, Ojha has denied the allegations and submitted a written representation to the Vadodara Police Commissioner and Kapurai Police Station. In his application, he alleged that the complainant had been staying at his property as a tenant and later demanded ₹20 lakh to vacate the premises. He claimed the allegations were part of an attempt to extort money from him and threatened legal action.

Police said the allegations made by both sides are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.

Ojha was recently arrested by the Anand Cyber Crime Police in a separate case related to the alleged harassment of a senior AAP leader through calls made while impersonating an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer. The case triggered political controversy within the party and attracted attention at the national level. DeshGujarat
