Ahmedabad: Following a fire incident at a hotel in Delhi, the Fire Department of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC), in a special inspection drive conducted across hotels and commercial buildings in the city, found serious violations of fire safety norms. After the identified deficiencies were not rectified despite notices being issued, the AMC’s Fire and Estate Departments sealed six hotels in the Thaltej, Bodakdev, and Vastrapur areas.

The civic body, in an official note, said that as part of a drive undertaken by Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services to ensure strict compliance with fire safety and life safety norms in the city, notices were issued to the operators a week ago to rectify serious deficiencies in fire safety facilities. However, as the necessary corrective work was not completed within the stipulated timeframe, action was taken to seal six hotels on 16/06/2026 last night.

The details of the hotels sealed are as follows:

• Hotel Royal Square, New York Tower, S.G. Highway, Thaltej Ward

• Hotel 4 Food, Thaltej Ward

• Hotel Capresion, Thaltej Ward

• Apollo Hotel, Bodakdev Ward

• Hotel Lake Inn, Gurukul Road, Vastrapur

• Hotel Grant Inn, Bodakdev Ward

As per AMC, this action has been taken under the provisions of the Gujarat Fire Prevention and Life Safety Act as the necessary provisions related to fire safety were not followed despite repeated instructions and notices issued by Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services.
