Omnagar – Chamanpura Railway Underpass in Ahmedabad Set to Be Ready by Sept 30

Ahmedabad: Construction of the Limited Height Subway (LHS) between Omnagar and Chamanpura on the Asarwa-Himmatnagar railway section is on track for completion by September 30, railway officials said after a review of the project by the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM).

DRM Ved Prakash and Thakkarbapanagar MLA Kanchiben Raddadiya jointly inspected the under-construction Limited Height Subway (LHS) and directed officials to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated timeline while maintaining quality standards. The deadline follows instructions from Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during his recent visit to Ahmedabad, when he asked officials to complete the underbridge before the upcoming Navratri festival.

The LHS is being built at an estimated cost of around Rs 19 crore at Level Crossing No. 3. The 265-metre-long and 8.5-metre-wide underpass is being constructed using the modern box-pushing method. Railway officials said the box-pushing work beneath the railway tracks has been completed successfully, while construction of the approach roads is currently in progress.

Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is carrying out sewer line works at the site, and Torrent Power is shifting underground power cables. Officials said the remaining construction work will gather pace once these utility-related works are completed. DeshGujarat
