AMC Sacks Chief Fire Officer Amit Dongre Over ACB Bribery Case

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has terminated the appointment of Probationary Chief Fire Officer Amit A. Dongre with immediate effect following an alleged bribery case involving fire NOCs for six buildings in the city.

According to a press note, Dongre had allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹36,000 through a third party for sanctioning the fire NOCs of six different buildings in Ahmedabad.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) subsequently laid a trap, during which the third party was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.

The ACB also recorded a telephonic conversation between the third party and Dongre, during which the alleged bribe amount was agreed upon.

Following the development, the AMC terminated Dongre’s appointment as Probationary Chief Fire Officer with immediate effect. The bribe case is under investigation by the ACB. DeshGujarat
