IMD Forecasts Light to Moderate Rain Across Gujarat Till Aug 23

Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers across most parts of Gujarat over the next seven days, with rainfall activity expected to continue until August 23.

According to the latest forecast, North and South Gujarat are likely to receive light to moderate rain at a few places each day, while Saurashtra and Kutch are expected to witness similar weather at isolated places.

The IMD said the weather pattern is being influenced by a well-marked low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal-North Odisha coast. The system is expected to move northwestwards and is likely to intensify into a depression within the next 24 hours.

The department also noted that the upper-air cyclonic circulation over Gujarat continues to persist, while the monsoon trough remains active across northern and eastern India. In addition, a shear zone over central India and prevailing southwesterly to westerly winds at lower levels are supporting the ongoing monsoon activity over the state.

The prevailing weather conditions are expected to keep rainfall activity active across Gujarat through the coming week, although no widespread heavy rainfall warning has been issued in the latest forecast. DeshGujarat
