Gujarat Completes 80% of Average Monsoon Rainfall as of September 14

Gandhinagar: As of 6 am today, September 14, Gujarat has received 729.16 mm of cumulative rainfall during the current monsoon season, accounting for 80.23% of its average seasonal rainfall.

According to data released by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), South Gujarat continues to be the wettest region, receiving 1,708.90 mm of rainfall so far, or 110.82% of its average seasonal rainfall.

It is followed by the East-Central Gujarat region with 659.94 mm, reaching 80.58% of its seasonal average. Saurashtra has recorded 451.84 mm (59.28%), while North Gujarat has received 427.70 mm (58.56%). Kutch remains the driest region, with 153.90 mm, or 30.79% of its average seasonal rainfall.

Among the districts, Navsari has received 126.62% of its average seasonal rainfall, followed by Valsad at 121.23%, Surat at 112.46% and Dang at 111.64%. Bharuch has also crossed its seasonal average, recording 104.62%. Other districts with substantial rainfall include Kheda (103.55%) and Anand (100.56%).

At the other end of the spectrum, Devbhumi Dwarka has received just 7.01% of its seasonal average, followed by Porbandar (18.55%), Jamnagar (30.71%) and Kutch (30.79%), making them among the driest parts of the state so far.

In terms of cumulative rainfall, Valsad tops the state with 2,886.14 mm, followed by Dang with 2,584.00 mm, Navsari with 2,406.33 mm, Surat with 1,702.83 mm and Tapi with 1,379.38 mm.

During the last 24 hours, rainfall was reported across all districts and 240 talukas in the state. The highest rainfall recorded during the period was 113 mm in Kaprada taluka of Valsad district. The statewide average rainfall during the 24-hour period stood at 21.84 mm.

The SEOC data shows that Gujarat received 35.21 mm of rainfall in June, while July contributed 552.57 mm, August recorded 97.01 mm, and September has received 44.37 mm so far, taking the cumulative seasonal total to 729.16 mm.
