Tata Electronics announces partnerships to strengthen Dholera semiconductor fab ecosystem

Dholera: Tata Electronics has announced a series of strategic partnerships at SEMICON India 2026 to accelerate the development of its semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), Gujarat, and build a supporting ecosystem for semiconductor manufacturing.

The partnerships cover advanced materials, chip design and fabrication, engineering infrastructure, logistics, supply chain management, vendor development and talent creation.

Key partnerships announced include:

Fujifilm: Fujifilm will make a phased investment of approximately ₹700 crore to establish a facility for critical advanced materials in Dholera SIR.

L&T Semiconductor Technologies: Tata Electronics will collaborate with L&T Semiconductor Technologies to combine its fabless chip design capabilities with Tata Electronics’ semiconductor packaging and foundry capabilities. The companies will jointly explore chip fabrication and packaging opportunities for L&T Semiconductor’s existing and future products across Tata Electronics’ range of fab process technologies and packaging solutions. The partnership will also focus on chip design-to-fabrication optimisation for efficient manufacturing at scale.

Kelington: Tata Electronics has partnered with Malaysian integrated engineering solutions provider Kelington for the deployment of critical infrastructure and systems for the semiconductor fab in Dholera.

Sojitz Corporation and NRS Corporation: The companies will work with Tata Electronics on a supply chain, warehousing and logistics management framework to support a robust semiconductor materials ecosystem. The initiative will focus on the safe, reliable and efficient handling of critical semiconductor materials, including materials requiring specialised handling.

Sumitomo Chemical: Tata Electronics has partnered with Sumitomo Chemical for the supply of advanced semiconductor materials, including photoresists, functional chemicals and high-purity chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide, isopropyl alcohol, ammonia water and sulfuric acid. Tata Electronics and GSEM will support Sumitomo Chemical in exploring manufacturing opportunities for semiconductor materials and high-purity chemicals in Gujarat.

Ascendas Firstspace: Tata Electronics has partnered with Singapore-based Ascendas Firstspace to develop a 363-acre vendor park in Dholera. The park is planned to be further developed as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), strengthening the supplier ecosystem around the semiconductor fab.

Nexperia: Tata Electronics has entered into a strategic front-end manufacturing collaboration with Nexperia, a global semiconductor components company with products serving sectors including automotive, mobile and consumer electronics. The companies are laying the groundwork for manufacturing Nexperia’s MOSFET portfolio at Tata Electronics’ upcoming 300mm semiconductor fab in Dholera.

Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya: Tata Electronics has partnered with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya to develop industry-ready talent, promote academic innovation and build capabilities needed for the growing industrial and technology ecosystem. The organisations will develop multi-party partnership frameworks involving Tata Electronics’ partners L&T EduTech and Jacobs Solutions. The initiative will create opportunities for students and professionals to develop specialised skills in areas such as semiconductor facility engineering and infrastructure systems, project management, logistics and supply chain management. Tata Electronics, L&T EduTech and Jacobs Solutions will provide subject-matter expertise to the university.

Speaking at the inaugural session of SEMICON India 2026, Tata Electronics CEO Dr Randhir Thakur said “The fab in Dholera and the packaging facility in Assam are on track to meet the commitments.”

The partnerships are aimed at building a broader semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem around Tata Electronics’ planned facilities, spanning materials and equipment to manufacturing, logistics, suppliers and skilled talent. DeshGujarat
