Fire breaks out at Sangini Hub B textile market in Surat

Surat: A fire broke out on the first floor of the Sangini Hub-B textile market in the busy Saroli area of the city on Monday, triggering panic among traders, staff and shoppers. The fire broke out while the market was operational, prompting people to rush to safety.

More than 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot after the Surat Municipal Corporation’s fire control room received information about the blaze. Firefighters began spraying water from different sides to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby shops and upper floors.

Thick smoke spread across the floor due to the large quantity of textile stock, making firefighting operations difficult. Firefighters are currently working to bring the blaze under control and carrying out cooling operations.

A short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire, though the exact cause is yet to be confirmed. No casualties have been reported so far, while the extent of damage to the textile stock is being assessed. DeshGujarat
