GMRC invites bids for 4.4-km Surat Metro extension to Bullet Train station
September 28, 2026
Surat: The under-construction Surat Metro network will be connected to the upcoming Surat Bullet Train station, with the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) inviting bids for the construction of a 4.4-km extension of Metro Corridor-II from Saroli to the upcoming Surat High-Speed Rail (HSR) station at Antroli. The civil contract has an estimated value of ₹356.54 crore, excluding taxes.
The extension will comprise an elevated viaduct and three elevated stations, Kalpataru, Ambaba College and Surat HSR. The project is aimed at providing direct Metro connectivity to the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail station and improving last-mile connectivity to areas including Chedcha, Vedchha and Antroli.
According to the tender issued by GMRC, the contract covers the construction of the elevated viaduct and stations, along with electrical and mechanical works. Architectural finishing and roofing works are excluded from the current contract and will be taken up separately.
The selected contractor will have 24 months to complete the work from the commencement date.
The extension will start from Saroli, the current terminal station of Corridor-II, also known as the Red Line. The 18.74-km Red Line currently runs from Bhesan to Saroli and connects several key areas of Surat.
The proposed extension is part of plans to integrate Surat’s Metro network with the upcoming Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor. Surat Metro Phase-I comprises two corridors with a combined length of 40.35 km and 38 stations, which are currently under construction. DeshGujarat
