IMD Forecasts Rain in Parts of Gujarat
October 20, 2026
Ahmedabad: Light rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in six districts of Gujarat on Tuesday, October 20, while dry weather is expected across the state for the rest of the week, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD has forecast isolated showers in Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Narmada and Tapi districts until Wednesday morning, October 21. Dry weather is likely in the remaining districts of Gujarat, including all districts of Saurashtra-Kutch, as well as Diu, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
Cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan persists
According to the IMD’s synoptic analysis, an upper-air cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan and neighbouring areas persists at an altitude of up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. The system may contribute to localised weather activity in parts of Gujarat.
However, the trough extending from southwest Rajasthan to the northeast Arabian Sea has become less marked. Northerly to northeasterly winds are also prevailing over the region at lower levels.
A well-marked low-pressure area over the southwest Arabian Sea also persists, with its associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. The system is likely to move west-northwestwards over the next 12 hours before continuing towards the Somali coast over the following days.
The IMD has forecast dry weather across Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch, Diu, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli from October 21 to October 27. No weather warnings have been issued for the region during the seven-day forecast period.
The weather department has also predicted no significant change in maximum and minimum temperatures over the next seven days.
In Ahmedabad, mainly clear skies are expected until Wednesday morning, with the maximum temperature likely to reach 38°C and the minimum temperature around 24°C.
Meanwhile, Rajkot recorded the highest maximum temperature in the region at 40.8°C, while Naliya recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 20.5°C during the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Tuesday. DeshGujarat
