New Attraction Coming Up Near Statue of Unity: 12-Acre Rain Forest With Glass Skywalk

Ekta Nagar: A ₹12-crore Rain Forest project spread across 12 acres near the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar is expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31, adding a new tourist attraction to the popular destination in Gujarat’s Narmada district.

Located near the New Gora Bridge and Coconut Tree Garden, around 5 km from the Statue of Unity, the project will offer visitors an artificial year-round rainfall experience, featuring waterfalls, bubble fountains and a large glass walkway designed to provide an immersive natural setting.

The project will use 20 rain-gun towers to simulate rainfall, while the temperature will be maintained between 25°C and 30°C to allow visitors to enjoy the experience even during summer. Trees representing different states of India will also be planted to recreate the atmosphere of a natural forest.

The main attraction of the project will be a circular glass walkway made using 132 glass panels, each 35 mm thick. The structure is claimed to be the first of its kind in the world.

The glass walkway tower, which is nearing completion, will have a diameter of 22 metres and stand 11 metres above the ground at the skywalk level. The curved structure uses 35-mm-thick toughened laminated glass imported from Germany. The panels were cut and shaped in Ahmedabad before being transported to the construction site.

Specialised cranes are being used to lift and position the large glass panels at height, with workers carefully installing them as construction progresses towards completion.

Praful Nasit of Surat-based Kashyap Builders said the Rain Forest project would emerge as a major attraction for tourists visiting the Statue of Unity. He said features such as artificial rainfall and the glass walkway would offer visitors a distinctive experience and add a new dimension to tourism in Ekta Nagar. DeshGujarat
