AMC Demolishes Illegal Four-Storey Building in Dariapur
October 27, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Tuesday demolished an unauthorised residential building spanning approximately 2,320 square feet in Shahpur, in Dariapur ward, under the Central Zone, after the owners and occupants failed to remove the illegal construction despite being served multiple notices.
The demolition was carried out on October 27 under the direct supervision of the Deputy Municipal Commissioner of the Central Zone, with assistance from Shahpur police personnel and AMC staff. The operation involved breaker machines, gas cutters, a vehicle for removing debris and encroachments, and private labourers.
The unauthorised construction, extending from the ground floor to the fourth floor, was located at 244, Sagarwad, Mankodi Pala ni Pol, in a lane opposite Masjid Shah Madar in Shahpur, Ahmedabad. The property falls under Election Ward 21 (Dariapur).
According to the AMC, notices under Sections 267, 260(1) and 260(2) of the Gujarat Provincial Municipal Corporations (GPMC) Act, 1949, were served on September 30, October 1 and October 9, 2026, respectively. As the construction was not removed voluntarily, the civic body proceeded with the demolition.
The AMC said it would continue taking action against unauthorised constructions in the Central Zone in the coming days. DeshGujarat
