Ahmedabad: Primary schools across Gujarat will observe a 21-day Diwali vacation from November 5 to November 25, 2026, with the second academic term scheduled to begin on November 26, the Directorate of Primary Education said in a circular dated October 26.

The circular directs district education officers and district primary education officers to coordinate the announcement of vacation dates to ensure that primary and secondary schools follow the same schedule.

The vacation dates have been prescribed for all recognised primary schools in the state in accordance with the school activity calendar published annually by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board.

The Directorate has also directed district education officers to inform government and grant-in-aid teacher training colleges, bal adhyapan mandirs, self-financed PTC colleges and all schools under their jurisdiction about the schedule.

However, the first-year academic activities at all teacher training institutes will resume on November 19, 2026, to ensure completion of the prescribed number of working days under National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) norms. DeshGujarat
