AMC Seals Honest Restaurant, 19 Other Units in West Zone Drive

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has sealed Honest Restaurant on Commerce Six Roads in Navrangpura as part of an enforcement drive against commercial establishments found violating public health and cleanliness norms in the city’s West Zone.

The action against Honest Restaurant was among 20 establishments sealed by the AMC’s Solid Waste Management Department over the past three days during daytime and nighttime inspections across the West Zone.

According to an AMC press release, the drive targeted commercial establishments and street vendors found littering public roads, creating public nuisances, using or selling banned plastic, or operating without dustbins. Action was taken under the provisions of the Gujarat Provincial Municipal Corporations (GPMC) Act and Public Health Bylaws.

During the campaign, AMC teams inspected 239 units and issued notices to 153 establishments for violations related to littering and the use of prohibited plastic. A total of 23.1 kg of banned plastic was seized.

The civic body collected administrative charges amounting to Rs 2.67 lakh during the drive. Of this, Rs 1.24 lakh was collected in connection with prohibited plastic violations, while Rs 1.43 lakh was recovered through action against establishments involved in littering and other public nuisance activities.

Besides Honest Restaurant, the 19 other sealed establishments included several automobile businesses, printing and scrap shops, hotels, tea stalls and paan parlours across Navrangpura, Naranpura, Vasna, Ranip, Sabarmati and Paldi.

The list included Hotel Swell on Drive-In Road, New Lucky Motors near Mithakhali Six Roads, and multiple establishments near Tej Complex and Nagri Hospital in Navrangpura. Other establishments were sealed for using prohibited plastic.

The AMC said awareness activities are also being conducted in residential and commercial areas of the West Zone. Residents and businesses are being instructed to segregate waste and hand it over to AMC collection vehicles instead of dumping it in public places.

The civic body said enforcement action against establishments violating cleanliness and public health norms would continue in the coming days. DeshGujarat
