AMC to Hike Parking Fees; Proposed New Rates Here
November 04, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has proposed an increase in parking charges at its pay-and-park facilities, including on-street, off-street and multi-level parking locations. The revised rates, approved by the Town Planning Committee, will come into effect after receiving approval from the Standing Committee and the General Board.
Under the revised rates, two-wheeler parking charges will be ₹10 for the first hour, ₹15 for one to three hours, ₹25 for three to six hours, ₹40 for six to 12 hours and ₹55 for 12 to 24 hours. The revised charges are lower than those initially proposed by the Municipal Commissioner for longer parking durations.
For four-wheelers, the proposed parking charges will be ₹20 for the first hour, ₹40 for one to three hours, ₹80 for three to six hours, ₹120 for six to 12 hours and ₹170 for 12 to 24 hours.
Town Planning Committee Chairman Bhagyesh Patel said the proposal to revise parking charges at municipal parking facilities was approved at the committee meeting held on Wednesday. The revised rates will apply to parking facilities operated by the civic body across the city.
The AMC has proposed the increase amid concerns over traffic congestion caused by vehicles parked along roads. The Municipal Commissioner has also directed officials to identify vacant plots that can be made available for parking, with some such spaces being opened to the public free of charge.
The proposed increase in charges at designated pay-and-park facilities could, however, add to the parking costs for motorists using municipal parking infrastructure. The revision comes after a gap of 10 years, during which parking charges in Ahmedabad remained unchanged. DeshGujarat
