Osamu Suzuki visits Gujarat plant of Maruti, holds meeting with Chief Minister

Gandhinagar: Chairman of Suzuki Motors, Osamu Suzuki today visited the site of Maruti car manufacturing plant which is under construction near Bechraji in Gujarat. Suzuki also held meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in capital Gandhinagar in presence of entire top cadre of company officials and government officers.
Top sources told DeshGujarat that Gujarat plant’s ‘A’ line is already constructed and equipment are also installed. At present the trial process is going on at the site. Production on ‘A’ line will commence from 1st February 2017 and will produce 2.5 lakh cars per annum.
They said, construction of second phase(‘B’ line) of the plant was in bidding stage earlyt his month. Order was finalized on 6th of this month and it was issued to Shapoorji Pallonji. Construction of ‘B’ line will start on 1st January 2017 and end on 28th February 2018. Production on ‘B’ line will start in February 2019 according to top sources in company who also add that ‘B’ line will have same capacity as ‘A’ line which shall make total production of 5 lakh cars per annum. Model planned for ‘A’ line is Baleno. The company has plans ready for development upto ‘C’ line. Final capacity will be therefore 7.5 lakh cars per annum ultimately after ‘C’ line is commissioned. The company has planned strategy that it will release one line over a gap of two years for financial and technological improvement reasons. he company has enough land including that for vendor’s park, parking pad etc. The total area is approximately 700 acres.
Maruti badly needs speedy commissioning of its Gujarat plant to eliminate the waiting period and timely delivery of cars.
