Naval Aircraft Hangar inaugurated at Porbandar Airport in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: A newly constructed aircraft hangar and allied infrastructure in the upcoming Enclave at Porbandar Airfield of the Western Naval Command had been inaugurated.
The facility will further augment the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy in the area and strengthen maritime surveillance in North Arabian Sea.
A statement issued by the Defence spokesperson of Gujarat Wing Commander Abhishek Matiman today said that Porbandar is an important Naval Base in Gujarat and provides operational, logistics and administrative facilities for various units. The Indian Navy has also recently created the post of Flag Officer Gujarat Naval Area, at Gandhinagar.
‘The aircraft hangar was inaugurated by Vice Admiral Girish Luthra, who is also Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C) Western Naval Command, yesterday,’ the statement said.
The FOC-in-C West also reviewed the operational readiness of units at Porbandar in particular with relation to the ongoing Naval exercise Paschim Lehar, it said.
