Vaidya in Gujarat; RSS clarifies it is not against caste based quota to SC, ST, OBC but opposes religion based quota
January 21, 2017
Ahmedabad: Like always, a large section of mainstream media spiced up, misinterpreted and wrongly presented the statement of RSS leader on reservation quota with apparently clear intention of putting RSS and Dalits against each other. The actual question/answer conversation at Jaipur which has been wrongly presented in most newspapers today morning is here in image attached with this article. How it was presented by media is allover in print and at online platforms. Readers can match two(the original statement attached here and reporting in publication they subscribe) and take a judgement on integrity standards of publications.
Amid apparently a manufactured controversy over the alleged statement of Prachar Pramukh Manmohan Vaidya on reservation, the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) today said that it was never against the caste-based quota to the poorer sections of the SC,ST and OBC community but was completely opposed to the idea of religion based reservation.
On the sidelines of a meeting of the workers of all the 39 vishwa Samvad Kendras from across the country in Shashtrinagar area of Ahmedabad, which is also being attended by Mr Vaidya, his deputy (sah prachar pramukh) Nand kumar and sah sar karyawah of the outfit Dattatreya Hosbole, the spokesperson of Gujarat unit of RSS, Vijay Thakar told media persons that RSS was never against the caste based reservation to the members of SC, ST and OBC community.
‘We fully support the reservation to the SC, ST and OBC community and it is clear in our 1981 resolution, but we are completely against the religion based quota which gives rise to the separatist forces and is detrimental for the nation. It is also against the constitution. It is all mentioned in the resolution passed by RSS way back in 1985. Even Mr Vaidya while replying to the two questions have said this only,’ he said.
Meanwhile police detained handful of “activists” (total ten in number) of small-time outfit called Thakor sena while they were protesting with black flags against Mr Vaidya’s statement given at a literature festival in Jaipur, close to the venue of the RSS meeting attended by him here in a cooperative bank assembly hall near Shastrinagar crossing. None of them had watched actual version of Mr. Vaidya’s statement on TV. Neither of them had read the actual version. They had all read misquoted versions produced by mainstream media. They were later released.
The meeting which started today will continue for three days.
