CM’s are not decided on the basis of posters: Modhwadia

Surat: Amid alleged desperation in Shankersinh Vaghela camp and surfacing of hoardings in Vadodara projecting him as the next chief minister of Gujarat, his party colleague and former president of state Congress, Arjun Modhwadia today said that Chief Ministers were not decided on the basis of posters.

Talking to newsmen here today, Modhwadia, who himself was reportedly among several contenders for CM’s post in the party which was out of power in the state for around two decades, said that that the party had several faces for CM’s post but it could not be decided through posters. Also there was no competition for it in the party. ‘Our party will win 125 seats in the polls and our parliamentary board would select the next CM in two days,’ he said.

Unnamed hoardings with pictures of Vaghela, the current leader of opposition, surfaced at four places in Vadodara including near Airport circle yesterday. It claimed that the next government in Gujarat would be of Bapu (Vaghela) irrespective of whether BJP or Congress forms the government.

Modhwadia said that Congress has many faces for CM but ruling BJP has no face and the incumbent CM was like the 12 th man. He also said that in 182 member assembly if BJP claimed to win 200 seats, he won’t be surprised. People were fed up of the BJP rule, farmers were not getting adequate price of their produce and youths were facing unemployment. Congress was gaining strength in rural pockets.
