Prime Minister Narendra Modi likely to visit Rajkot on June 29

Rajkot: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Rajkot city on June 29.

Rajkot is the city which for the first time elected Narendra Damodardas Modi as representative. Modi had not contested even panchayat election before he contested as MLA from Rajkot after becoming Chief Minister of Gujarat. Modi had at that time promised that he would work for permanent solution of water scarcity problem which was the biggest problem of Rajkot city. Walking the talk, Shri Modi later introduced SAUNI project to link the dams of Saurashtra and connect them to Narmada water grid. The Prime Minister during his upcoming visit to Rajkot will now dedicate Narmada water connectivity to Aaji dam which is the main source of water supply for Rajkot city. Thanks to this connectivity, the Aaji and Nyari dams will be full of water even during/after poor monsoon.

The Prime Minister will also perform ground breaking for a new airport in Rajkot. This will be a world-class airport and one of the best in the country. The project was delayed for variety of reasons, but with Narendra Modi in the Centre, and son of Rajkot, Vijay Rupani at the helm of the State, the process of identifying and transfer of land has been completed. The airport will be developed by the Airport Authority of India. Rajkot has one airport at present but it is old and not suitable to carry out expansion process.

Some of the development works the Prime Minister is likely to inaugurate are installation of new gates at Nyari dam and increase of Nyari dam height, affordable housing scheme, CCTV camera project, Rs 15 crore Mahatma Gandhi museum project at Alfred high school and Rs 24.92 crore express feeder line which will connect the dams for water transfer and mroe.

Surat style road-show of Prime Minister and grand reception is also being planned in Rajkot according to sources.

It should be mentioned here that the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate Textiles India 2017 on 30th June at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinaar in Gujarat.
