Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu may fly kites with Modi in Gujarat on January 14

Ahmedabad: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be on a four-day visit to India starting 14 January according to news reports. Netanyahu will be received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ahmedabad – Gujarat on his arrival.
Modi has in the past welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in his home state.
14th January is celebrated as Makarsankranti / Uttarayan / Kite flying day in Gujarat. Netanyahu and Modi may fly kites together on this day.
Netanyahu is expected to hold most of his official meetings in New Delhi on 15 and 16 January.
The detailed programme is being still worked out but it will include meetings with top leadership in India, sources told news agency PTI.
Netanyahu would head back to Israel on 18 January. There could also be a possible stopover in Agra during the visit.
Netanyahu’s visit next year comes almost 15 years after the first visit by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to New Delhi in 2003.
In the past year, I have visited all continents besides Antarctica. And in January, I will make a reciprocal visit to my dear good friend, Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, whose population is a significant part of humanity, Netanyahu said at the opening of the Knesset’s (Israeli parliament) winter session last month.
