All sections supported BJP in first phase polling, party to have landslide victory: Jaitley
December 09, 2017
Ahmedabad: Union finance minister and State BJP election incharge Arun Jaitley today in brief interaction with media persons here said the BJP will get opportunity to serve the people of Gujarat for five more years with landslide majority.
Jaitley soon after the polling for first phase of Gujarat elections covering all 89 seats of Kutch, Saurashtra and South Gujarat regions was over said, Since morning we were monitoring the polling process from State party headquarters today. The reports received are encouraging and at most places all sections have extended support to BJP. We will not just have comfortable majority but landslide victory in Gujarat.’
In reply to question on ‘blue tooth hacking of Electronic Voting Machine(EVM)’ allegations made by Congress leader and Porbandar candidate Arjun Modhwadia, Jaitley said: Such statements are baseless. And when statements of these kinds are given, I can not help but say that these are alibis in preparation of possible defeat.
He said, ‘Voting machines related glitches are common when polling take place on such a large scale, they are corrected eventually anyway. We are more than satisfied the way election was conducted today.’
