Railways seek speedy acquisition for Chandod-Kevadiya broad gauge

Gandhinagar: Railway officials met Chief Secretary JN Singh and demanded his intervention for speedy and smooth acquisition of land to implement the Dabhoi-Kevadia broad gauge railway line project.
Dabhoi-Kevadia railway line involves Dabhoi-Chandod and Chandod-Kevadia colony stretches. Dabhoi-Chandod stretch has allready a narrow gage line which needs to be converted to broad gauge. However Chandod-Kevadia Colony stretch will need fresh land acquisition to lay new railway line. Two districts involved in this are Vadodara and Narmada.
The Chief Secretary has directed both district collectors to ensure speedy land acquisition process to implement the project which is essential in view of whole lot of new traffic anticipated in connection with the Statue of Unity project which is likely to complete this year at Kevadia Colony.
It’s worth noting that railway is prepared to implement this Rs 650 crore project which has been already approved by Railway board and presented before Nitin Aayog.
