February 16, 2018
Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) MLA Rajendra Trivedi is set to become the next Speaker of the Gujarat Assembly.
Trivedi will file nomination form tomorrow, said Gujarat BJP president Jitubhai Vaghani.
Trivedi will become 18th Speaker of 14th assembly.
Trivedi was elected as MLA for the first time in 2012. He became minister of state in 2016. He was recently reelected from Raopura seat in Vadodara which is an urban constituency.
There was a concern among BJP MLAs in Vadodara that none of them was given berth in new cabinet. All BJP MLAs and local MP had even boycotted the function presided by the President of India in MS University.
The Gujarat Assembly budget session will begin on February 19.
