Jayesh Radadiya loses cool in bank for non-payment of crop insurance claim to farmers, video goes viral

A video of the youngest member of Vijay Rupani led BJP government in Gujarat, Jayesh V Radadiya becoming angry in a public sector bank and trying to force close its branch in his assembly constituency Jetpur of Rajkot due to said delay in payment of the crop insurance of local farmers has become viral today.

37 year old Radadiya, an engineering graduate and son of Porbandar MP Vitthal Radadiya who is Cabinet Minister of Food, Civil Supply & Consumer Affairs, Cottage Industry and Printing & Stationary in the state is seen asking the employees of SBI bank’s branch to go out. He can be heard speaking to a senior official of the bank over mobile phone saying him that the farmers can’t wait anymore.

Later talking to newsmen Radadiya clarified that due to the lapse on the part of the bank, around 150 local farmers were deprived of the crop insurance for the damage of their groundnut crop for past 11 months. He said that due to lapse on the part of bank, the premium of crop insurance could not be paid in time leading to suffering of the farmers and non-payment of their claim to the tune of Rs 1.75 crore.

Radadiya, who was also the Chairman of the Rajkot District Cooperative Bank, said that he lost his cool today because of the attitude of the bank officials in the matter. ‘I had talked to them earlier also but seemingly nothing has been done and the farmers were unable to get the insurance claim despite the fact that they had paid their premium well in time.
