PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate Sardar Patel Institute of Medical Science & Research in Ahmedabad on January 17

Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Sardar Patel Institute of Medical Science and Research in the city of Ahmedabad on January 17.

Formal announcement in this regard was made today by the Amdavad Municipal Corporation(AMC) in a press conference.

The hospital will be inaugurated in working condition. It will open for public from January 18.

A 19-storey multi-specialty hospital in existing pre-independence era Vadilal Sarabhai(VS) hospital campus has been constructed and made ready for treatment at a cost of Rs. 700 crore. It will have 1500-bed facility in addition to OPD.

The hospital project was conceived by then Chief Minister Narendra Modi. When AMC proposed to repair existing old VS hospital building, Modi as CM asked to create a state-of-the-art new public hospital with best infrastructural facilities and private-hospital like medical service in offering to benefit the poor and middle class people of not just Ahmedabad, but other parts of Gujarat and neighboring states.

The Prime Minister may also flag off the maiden trial run of Ahmedabad Metro rail in 6-km stretch in Eastern Ahmedabad during his January 17th visit.
