New Delhi: The BJP on Sunday said the people believe in manifestos only when a party has fulfilled “promises made in the past”.
“People will believe in manifesto only if a party has actually fulfilled promises made in the past,” senior BJP leader and Union Minister Arun Jaitley said while releasing party’s tag line, campaign song and theme.
Referring the Congress manifesto, Jaitley said eradicating poverty was also in their 1951 manifesto. The party has not able to fulfill the promise in past 72 years.
On the occasion, the party’s tag line, “Phir Ek Baar Modi Sarkar” (Modi government once again) was launched.
Releasing the party’s theme, Jaitley said the theme is the culmination of five-year-long performance of the BJP.
He said the party has partitioned the theme into three categories to show the people that the Narendra Modi government had taken big steps in just five years.
Jaitley said the first point of the theme is “Kaam Karne Wali Sarkar (a government which fulfills promises), while the second point is “Imandaar Sarkar” (an honest government).
The third and last aspect of the theme is “Bade Faisle Lene Wali Sarkar” (the government which has taken big and stern actions), Jaitley said, adding that in this they have included development and national security factor.
“NDA Government has taken stern actions on national security and worked for development of the country as well. The BJP has a decisive leader and majority government and that was the reason it was able to work for the people,” he added.
The Minister said people have to differentiate and choose between an army with a decisive leader and a chaotic 11-member team with 40 captains.
Attacking the Mahagatbandhan again, Jaitley said: “These parties always want a hung Parliament so that they can play a vital role in making the government. Bahujan Samaj Party has said the Central government should not be in majority but in a helpless condition.”
The Minister said they have worked for the middle class and the new emerging middle class. The BJP government has raised the tax exemption limit, cut the GST rates and lowered the inflation rates in five years, which the Congress government failed to fulfill in past 72 years.
Jaitley said the BJP would release its manifesto on Monday.
