Works for India’s first 100 mld water desalination plant for industrial purpose to kick off tomorrow at Dahej in Gujarat

Bharuch: Works for setting up a 100 MLD desalination plant for industrial use at Dahej in Bharuch district of Central Gujarat will kick off tomorrow with ground breaking to be performed by Stat Chief Minister.
Rs. 881 crore plant will come up over 25 hectare area. Due to huge turbidity, TDS and chloride present in Dahej sea, proposed plant will have provision of additional stage of reverse osmosis(BWRO).
A provision has also been made for a 20 acre settling pond where water will be stored before it come to desalination plant.
The plant will be set up by Gujarat government arm Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC).
It’s worth noting that Dahej industrial estate is supplied water through existing 454 mld water supply scheme. Once the PCPIR township is fully developed, it will require 1,000 mld water as per an estimate. Proposed desalination plant is going to be set up as alternative source. With its completion, the total water availability through both sources will be 555 mld.
