Gujarat leads in setting up Solar Rooftop Plant across the country

Gandhinagar: Gujarat has become number one state to errect highest number of solar rooftop plants across the country. As of March 2, 2020, total 50,915 home-based solar rooftop systems have been installed in the state and a solar rooftop plant of 177.67 megawatt capacity has been installed.
During the question hour in Parliament, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy R K Singh gave these details. He said that under the Solar Rooftop Scheme all over the country 64 % consumers are from Gujarat alone.
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has set a target of generating 1,75,000 MW solar energy in the country with the resolve to make maximum use of clean energy without pollution in India. Gujarat is ready to take the lead in achieving this resolution of the Prime Minister.
The Chief Minister recently announced Solar rooftop scheme and set up a target to cover 8 lakh residential electricity consumers under “Solar Gujarat” solar rooftop scheme up to 2022, so that people can use solar energy for home use in the state. The government has also increased the subsidy amount for the scheme.
For ‘Solar Rooftop Scheme’, the state government has also made provision of Rs.912 crore in the recent budget of the State.
