Over 3300 fined more than Rs 16 lakh in Ahmedabad alone for spitting in open Inbox x

Ahmedabad:Gujarat has so far not even a single positive case of Coronavirus (COVID19) infection while the municipal corporation of the most populous city in the western state, Ahmedabad, has till this afternoon since March 16, fined more than 3300 people for violating the administrative order banning spitting in public.
Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC), Commissioner IAS officer Vijay Nehra today told newsmen that so far no confirmed case of COVID 19 infection has been detected in the city or anywhere else across the state. In Ahmedabad of the 33 people admitted to hospitals so far due to flu like symptoms, 28 have been tested negative while the reports of five others was still awaited.
He said that since March 16 till today afternoon a fine of over Rs 16.15 lakh has been collected from over 3300 people found guilty of spitting in public.
Nehra also said that of the 916 people returning to Ahmedabad Airport from abroad, home quarantine of 447 has been completed and of the remaining 469, seven have been shifted to isolation ward for defying the self home-quarantine instructions.
Nehra also requested people to follow the precautionary measures to not to allow the entry of the virus borne disease in Gujarat.
Notably, all the schools, cinema-halls, swimming pools, tourist destinations have been shut in the state to prevent any entry and spread of the deadly virus which has so far claimed over 7000 lives across the globe and 3 in India.
