Ahmedabad: AMC will start Covid Care Centre at Samras hostel in Gujarat University campus in Vastrapur area, Municipal Commissioner said today.

According to him, Covid19 patients will be first taken to SVP or Civil hospital. If a patient is in 18 to 60 year age, if he/she has no comorbid conditions such as hypertension, blood pressure issue, diabetes, heart problem, if he/she has no complications, if he/she is asymptomatic and stable, he/she will be transferred to Covid Care Centre at Samras hostel, a limited facility where limited strength of doctors and an ambulance will always be there. If need arises, the patient will be taken to SVP or Civil hospital immediately through ambulance. Children and senior citizens, those who have comorbid condition such as hypertension, diabetes, heart problem other complications (such as kidney issue), those who need ventilator support (critical cases) will not be sent to Covid Care Centre, and they will be kept in hospital only. The decision on who should be sent to Covid Care Centre will be taken by doctors at hospitals.

Municipal Commissioner said this strategy would help the hospitals to focus on patients who require attention.

He said, so far all positive cases were taken to Civil and SVP hospital, however now onward as per the WHO and Govt of India guideline Kovid Centre is going to be started.

Municipal Commissioner also announced start of Covid Health Centre which shall be a place where patients who require Oxygen support will be kept.

Municipal Commissioner said, planning for such centre was done one and half month ago and it was decided that if number of cases increase, this strategy will be implemented.

Commissioner further said, ‘Those who have recovered from Coronavirus and developed immunity against Coronavirus have been approached by AMC to become care taker/care giver at Covid Care Centre. Among such Coronav beaters, whoever are contacted so far, have showed readiness to offer their services as care taker. They will do a job of catering meal and other minor services as volunteers.

The city has so far seen 225 Covid19 positive cases, 4696 tests, recovery of 10 patients, deaths of 9 patients and 206 active cases at present. Out of 1774 persons quarantined, 1394 are home quarantined while 370 are quarantined in AMC facility. 10 are quarantined in hospital facility.

The Covid19 facility at SVP hospital which functions under AMC is full and its expansion is being planned, said Commissioner.
