Parimal Nathwani gets elected to Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh

Ahmedabad: Shri Parimal Nathwani, a consecutive two term Rajya Sabha MP representing Jharkhand from 2008 onwards and Senior Group President of Reliance Industries Ltd got elected to the Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh at Amravati today as a YSR Congress Party candidate.
On getting elected, Shri Nathwani said, “I thank our dynamic and very popular leader Shri YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and YSR Congress Party, for giving me the opportunity to serve the people of this state. It is one year since he became CM of AP and he has fulfilled nearly 90% of the promises made by him and he will do a lot more for the over-all development of the state in the remaining 4 years of his term. Our CM has focused on the ‘Navaratnalu’ or the 9 welfare schemes that he had promised to implement, and a lot has been achieved in each of these schemes.”
Shri Nathwani further added, “I am fully committed to serving the people of Andhra Pradesh and will work along with CM and his team for the development of the state. I will bring to the table my extensive experience gained during my 12 years as RS MP of Jharkhand and several decades of experience at Reliance Industries Ltd.”
Two term (12 years) Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand, Shri Parimal Nathwani has done exemplary work and utilised Member of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) and Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) funds to near 100 per cent for rural infrastructure, education, health, sanitation, skill development, etc. The three model village panchayats Baram-Jaratoli, Chuttu and Barwadag adopted by him under SAGY and development work done there by him has been very extensive.
Shri Nathwani works closely with RIL Chairman & MD Shri Mukesh Ambani. He considers Reliance patriarch Shri Dhirubhai Ambani as his mentor and role model. He played a pivotal role in setting up of the world’s largest refinery complex at Jamnagar in Gujarat. Besides accomplishing, land acquisition amicably, Nathwani also steered project execution creating infrastructure for RIL’s Petroleum Retail outlets, retail foray, Gas transportation pipeline and Jio Mobile Network across the western states of India.
As per the Socio-economic Survey 2019-20 released a few days back, Andhra Pradesh has shown strong growth of 12.73% in the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) at Rs 9,72,782 crore in 2019-20, as against Rs 8,62,957 crore in previous fiscal 2018-19. Andhra Pradesh’s GSDP growth for 2019-20 was a healthy 8.16%.

Shri Nathwani added, “Our CM Shri Jagan Mohan Reddy faced lots of difficulties and challenges after the death of his father Shri YS Rajasekhara Reddy. But he has overcome all odds. He has shown huge potential to lead the people. He is capable to provide leadership to not only the people of Andhra Pradesh but also to the nation, particularly South India. With no other young generation leader comparable and competitive enough in sight, Shri Jagan Mohan Reddy is surely to be a great force in politics of Andhra Pradesh and South India for a long time to come. It is a great privilege for me to work with him and his party to serve the people of Andhra Pradesh under his leadership.”
Shri Nathwani had a flair for public life from his younger days and was associated with MPs of Saurashtra and once he even attempted to contest assembly election from his native place Jam Khambhalia. He was considered as ‘Voice of Saurashtra’ due to his involvement in public life for taking up people’s issues to various forums.

Until recently, as Vice President of Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), Shri Nathwani successfully monitored, supervised and executed the world’s largest stadium at Motera in Ahmedabad, the much talked about venue for ‘Namaste Trump’.
Nathwani remained vice chairman of Dwarkadheesh Temple Trust in Gujarat for about 15 years. He steered and participated on behalf of Reliance in development of holy town of Dwarka in association with Government of Gujarat. Nathwani is also a Member on Nathdwara Temple Board since more than 9 years.
Football in Gujarat got a boost with Nathwani’s election as president of Gujarat State Football Association (GSFA) in later half of 2019. He is supporting football activities at grass-root level in Gujarat on a sound footing.
‘Gir Lion: Pride of Gujarat’ and ‘Jharkhand Meri Karmabhoomi (Hindi)’; two of his books speak volumes of Nathwani’s capabilities. ‘Adorable and Admirable Parimal Nathwani’, one more book on his substantial contribution to Jharkhand is soon to be launched by the Times of India, Ranchi.
