Sabarmati: A seaplane from Maldives today arrived at Sabarmati Riverfront in Amdavad. This same plane will be used by private airliner Spicejet for daily service connecting Sabarmati Riverfront and Statue of Unity. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is going to launch this service on 31st of October during his visit to the Statue of Unity on the occasion of National Unity day marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. With this, the site of Statue of Unity where a number of new tourist attractions have been developed will get air connectivity. A rail connectivity project linking Mumbai – Delhi railway line to Statue of Unity site is already underway and in its final stage.
