New Ahmedabad Mayor to continue to live in his one-room chawl residence

Sabarmati: Kirit Parmar, new Mayor of Ahmedabad city today said that he would not shift to Mayor’s bungalow in Law Garden area and continue to live in his single house in chawl in Bapunagar area. Parmar said, he is single and he would continue to stay at his rented residence in AMC chawl and not move to Mayor’s bungalow. However for official matters and party work, the bungalow would be used when required, he added.
અમદાવાદના નવનિયુક્ત મેયર કીરીટ પરમાર તેમના બાપુનગરની ચાલી સ્થિત સાદા ઘરમાં જ રહેશે તેમ તેમણે પત્રકારોને જણાવ્યું છે. લો ગાર્ડનના મેયર બંગલોનો ઉપયોગ પ્રસંગોચિત અધિકૃત બાબતો અને પક્ષના કામ માટે થશે. પરમારે કહ્યું હું એકલો માણસ છું,લોકોની વચ્ચે જ રહીશ.

Earlier BJP Mayors late Jayendra Pandit and Kanaji Thakor had also chosen to continue to live in their own houses and stayed away from shifting to Mayor’s Bungalow.
Third term councilor of AMC, Kirit Parmar, the new mayor of Ahmedabad represents Thakkar Bapanagar ward. He had earlier also represented Saraspur Rakhial and Potaliya wards. According to roster norms, the mayor for present 2.5 years term has to be from the Scheduled Caste (SC) category. Parmar is senior most among councilors from this category in AMC. Parmar has completed B.Ed education. He is bachelor and unmarried. He lives a simple life with kachcha roof over his single-room house in Vira Bhagat chawl behind Bhidbhanjan Hanuman temple in Bapunagar area.
