Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation election postponed

Gandhinagar: State Election Commission of Gujarat today announced its decision to postpone the general election of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC). Polling for local body election of capital town was scheduled to take place on April 18. Political parties including opposition Congress and ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had demanded election to be postponed in view of current Covid19 pandemic situation. Yesterday state chief minister Vijay Rupani had also written a letter urging same. Sanjay Prasad, State Election Commissioner finally today declared his decision to postpone the election.
