Hearing of Gujarat High Court Suo Moto petition on Covid19 situation
April 12, 2021
-The Chief Justice: For common man it takes five to seven days to get RTPCR report today. Earlier test report would come in 8 to 10 hours. Someone would come to get sample. You don’t have the infrastructure to carry out more tests. Nobody wants to go voluntarily for testing. Who will spend Rs. 800? One has to go for four to five days for sample to be collected and get report. This testing has to be done in very very fastest possible pace. The sample collection and report. Still there are towns, talukas where RTPCR facility is not there.
-Make a policy that everyone gets what is needed and when it is needed. Make sure that Remdesivir is available everywhere. It should be available like Paracetamol, the HC bench says while Advocate General points out there’s limited supply from manufacturers.
-The government and department should take care that even in smaller districts all is provided to tackle the situation, the Chief Justice says.
-Reduce the number of persons attending parties and funeral. Ban all other functions except funeral and weddings. Any meeting should not have presence of more than 8 to 10 persons. Ceiling on persons attending marriage function needs to be reduced, 100 people allowed presently is too big a number. Make it to 50, the Chief Justice said.
– The government can also take steps in this direction of sensitising people about the responsibility and how they should react to this covid and how they should deal with it instead of hiding themselves with Covid, they should come out openly with it, that the next man is saved……Now I have personal information that curfew timings are also being relaxed further… at 5:00 in the morning.. Mr Vyas can tell you as he is early riser… So these tea shops, paan shops, they open up, it should be checked. Even in the daytime in market areas, it should be checked that Masks are must, some distance is maintained, there is no overcrowding in shops, and whatever possible steps you can take, and also take some steps to sensitize people about things.. In addition to this my brother has some suggestions about micromanagement of this things.
-…. But we are not happy with certain policies of the government which are not in placed which needs to be corrected and placed in order. We have tried to indicate …. the government and the govt machinery is doing its best, no doubt about that, whatever possible but some things need to be corrected and with those corrections, things will go in a much better way and will help the larger public interest, said Chief Justice to Advocate General.
