Modhera to be developed as country’s first solar village

Mehsana: Modhera village of Mehsana is going to be developed as the first solar village of the nation in which solar energy will be used on a 24/7 basis.
This project is one of PM Modi’s dream projects. Two plants each of 3-megawatt capacity are being set-up at Sujanpura village on 12 acres of land. The project costs Rs 69 crores. 50 percent partnership of Central Government and 50 percent of State Government will be there in this project.
The project will use BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) for the storage of solar energy. Electricity will be provided to 1610 houses and Surya mandir of Modhera. Moreover, a solar system of 1 kilowatt capacity is installed at 271 houses.
The requirement of electricity of Modhera village is 10,000 units but it is claimed that this project will lead to electricity generation of 1.50 lakh units. DeshGujarat
