Eco – Sensitive Zone: Gujarat High Court rejects Chhotu Vasava’s plea
August 25, 2021
Ahmedabad: Gujarat High Court rejected the plea of MLA Chhotu Vasava regarding the eco-sensitive zone in the area around Statue of Unity.
MLA Chhotu Vasava had filed a plea in public interest regarding the eco-sensitive zone implemented in Shoolpaneshwar to the Statue of Unity and surrounding area. Gujarat High Court stated that the plea was not filed with good intentions and rejected it.
The High-Court doubted why the plea for the eco-sensitive zone implemented in 2016 is filed in 2021. High-court claimed that any local farmer can do legal proceedings if they have a problem. It was argued on the behalf of the Government during the hearing that farming is permitted there in many villages and only some activities are banned due to the eco-sensitive zone. DeshGujarat
