Counting for GMC election 2021, other local regular/midterm/by-polls today; Result to be clear in the afternoon

Gandhinagar: Counting of votes for regular election of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) is taking place today.

With this, counting is also taking place for regular/mid-term elections of Thara, Okha and Bhanvad municipalities. Counting for by-polls of two vacant seats of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and one seat of Junagadh Municipal corporation (JMC) is also taking place today.

Counting is also taking place for over three dozens vacant municipality seats in Vadnagar, Mahesana, Bhachau, Valsad, Umargam, Gandevi, Bilimora, Bharuch, Radhanpur, Chanasma, Limbid, Surendranagar, Lunawada, Sikka, Dwarka, Kheda, Dakor, Mahedavad, Bavla, Bareja, Dhandhuka, Upleta, Mansa, Visavdar, Manavdar, Talaja, Dhanera, Tarsadi, Modasa.

Counting for 8 vacant district panchayat seats of Navsari, Tapi, Rajkot, Kheda, Arvalli, Ahmedabad, and Gir Somnath is also taking place today.

Counting for by-polls of over 40 vacant seats of taluka panchayats at Sanand, Daskroi, Mahesana, Satlasna, Kheralu, Radhanpur, Harij, Vyara, Dolvan, Songadh, Nizar, Visavdar, Dwarka, Danta, Palanpur, Dantiwada, Amirgadh, Gandhinagar, Bhiloda, Bayad, Garbada, Dahod, Devgadhbariya, Bhavnagar rural, Morbi, Halvad, Prantij, Himmatnagar, Vadodara, Savli, Bharuch, Nadiad, Matar, Kheda, Vansda, Subir, Mandvi, Lunawada, Balashinor, Amreli and Godhra is also taking place today.

The total number of seats that went for polling were 218. In addition tot his, BJP has won 11 other seats unopposed before polling as there was no rival candidate on these seats. The election covered over 11.93 lakh voters, out of which less than 7 lakh cast their votes.

In Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation election, out of 161 total candidates, 44 are from BJP, 44 from Congress, 40 from AAP, 14 from BSP, 2 from NCP, 6 are from other parties and 11 are independent candidates.

In Ahmedabad and Junagadh Municipal Corporation by-polls there are 10 candidates – 3 from BJP, 3 from Congress, 1 from NCP, 2 from AAP and 1 independent.

In 78-seat midterm polls of three municipalities, 78 candidates are from BJP, 72 from Congress, 52 from AAP and 3 are independents.

In 42-seat municipality by-elections, out of total 117 candidates, 42 are from BJP, 28 from Congress, 2 from BSP, 1 NCP, 20 AAP, 1 AIMIM, 1 other party and 22 are independent candidates.

In 8-seat district panchayat by-polls, BJP and Congress each has fielded 8 candidates, BSP – 1 and AAP has fielded 7 candidates.

Among taluka panchayat seats that are going to by-polls, out of 123 candidates, 43 are from BJP, 43 – Congress, 2 – BSP, 28 – AAP, 1 National Peoples Party, 3 other parties and 3 are independent candidates.
