Khambhat Ram Navami procession attack: Bulldozers now on task to remove illegal encroachment, constructions

Khambhat: Shakkarpur gram panchayat here has started removing illegal encroachments from areas near the mosque where Ran Navami procession came under attack. One participant of Ram Navami procession Kanaiyalal Rana(62) was brutally killed in the attack that was planned by Muslim clerics according to police.
All illegal constructions and cabins are to be removed from the area through official machinery including Prant Adhikari and Collector. Similarly, the State government will identify illegal constructions and do the same in Himmatnagar also where Ram Navami procession was attacked and vehicles were burnt.

Meanwhile, Khambhat town police inspector MJ Chaudhary who was appointed on this post less than a month ago has been transferred for negligence in duty. While Chaudhary has been transferred to Anand, another police inspector RN Khant who was stationed in Khambhat Rural has been shifted to Khambhat town police station.
Khambhat police has booked 57 persons in Ram Navami communal attack and brutal murder case. 46 of them are on run. A teacher of Madhavlal high school, Shailesh Rathod is being questioned for a meeting of clerics held in the school principal’s office prior to attack on Ram Navami procession.

In a similar incident in Madhya Pradesh, the Khargone administration bulldozed the illegally constructed buildings a day after stone pelting on Ram Navmi procession. The stones were pelted and several vehicles were set on fire on a Ram Navami Procession in Khargone on 10th April. Total 24 people were injured including six police personnel in the incident. Later, the administration bulldozed the illegally constructed buildings of the stone pelters on 11th April. Total 5 JCB machines were deployed for the task in the presence of heavy police force.
