GUVNL starts operation of two units of power plants at Sikka

Jamnagar: Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has started operations of both 500-megawatt plants by sourcing foreign coal as fuel, at Sikka in Jamnagar. While power demand is growing unexpectedly amid summer this year this added generation of power is important.
GUVNL has ordered 12 lakh metric tons of foreign coal for these plants. The coal will be imported from Indonesia at a price of Rs 14,000 per metric ton. The electricity demand has risen to 21,000 megawatts in summer from 18,000 megawatts. DeshGujarat
