State govt to release 360 MCFT Narmada water in Aji, Nyari dams in Rajkot
July 01, 2022
Rajkot: The state government has on the Rajkot Municipal Corporation’s request agreed to discharge 360 MCFT of Narmada water into the Aji & Nyari dam, which supplies water to the whole of Rajkot city.
The discharging of the said quantity of water will begin next week onwards as the current quantity of water at the Aji-Nyari dam is enough to suffice the needs of Rajkot city for just one week.
The Aji dam will receive 170 MCFT Narmada water while the Nyari dam will receive 190 MCFT.
The state government has agreed to release the Narmada waters to ensure uninterrupted water supply for irrigation and drinking purposes despite unpaid dues by the Rajkot civic body for water supplied previously.
There is no clear date given for when the pumping of water into the Aji and Nyari dams will begin but the government said that water will arrive in these dams in the next 2-3 days and the problem of water in these reservoirs will be addressed. DeshGujarat
