Gujarat to have submarine cable landing station and data centres; MoU signed

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government and private company Lightstorm signed an MoU for building the first submarine cable landing station (CLS) of the state and data centers with an investment of over Rs 1,000 crore in the upcoming five years. Over 2000 employment opportunities will be generated in the upcoming 5 years with this MoU that has been signed under Gujarat IT Policy (2022-27).
The secretary of science technology department of the state government Vijay Nehra and Lightstorm CEO Amajit Gupta signed the MoU in the presence of CM Bhupendra Patel.
A submarine cable will be laid to Gujarat directly from Europe, thanks to which the data connectivity with Europe, Middle East, U.S. and Asia will increase and there shall be a boost in setting up the infrastructure such as data centre in the State. This MoU has opened the gates to position Gujarat as India’s third State to have cable landing.
Under the new IT policy, Gujarat has so far signed 16 MoUs that open the path to generate 28,750 skilled employment in IT sector.
